Reliable solutions for laboratory and analysis applications

Since many years Air Liquide offers you product range specifically designed for laboratory and analysis application. Air Liquide's activity in Europe on laboratories and analysis market involved 17 500 customers and 500 000 cylinders delivered. They are filled in 44 filling centres dedicated for pure gases and mixtures, and 14 of them are of high degree of specialisation and in charge of production of high precision mixtures only. Air Liquide has 4 analytical laboratories in Europe accredited by national bodies (France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland). These accreditations, issued in accordance with ISO 17025 standard, allow to produce and supply accredited calibration mixtures and this certificate is attached to the cylinder.
But first of all, Air Liquide is a team of people - our specialists and experts support you not only with gas application, but also with operating of analytical equipment.

ALPHAGAZ™ pure gases

Air Liquide offers two ranges of pure gases: ALPHAGAZ™ 1 and ALPHAGAZ™ 2 compliant to the following specification:

CO2 < 0,1 ppm
CnHm < 0,1 ppm
H2 < 0,1 ppm

Cylinders, dedicated exclusively for laboratory gases, are available in two sizes: B10 and B50. They are made of steel and have chrome-plated brass valves (covered with heat-shrinkable film) as well as NRV-RPV valves. Cylinders are dried, vacuumed and heated before filling. Filling ramps are dedicated exclusively for laboratory gases.

 

ALPHAGAZ™ MIX products

The range of ALPHAGAZ™ MIX, analytical instrumentation mixtures, includes:

  • H2 in Ar: 5% & 2%
  • CH4 in Ar: 10% & 5%
  • CO2 in Ar: 10%
  • H2 in N2: 40% & 45%
  • CO2 in O2: 5%
  • CO2 + H2 in N2: 10% + 10%; 5% + 10%; 5% + 5%

Instrumentation mixtures are characterised by:

  • blending tolerance 5% relative,
  • impurities level:
         H2O = 5 ppm-mol,
         O2 = 5 ppm-mol,
         CnHm < 0,5 ppm-mol (for H2 in Ar or in N2),
  • shelf life: 36 months.

The exception is ALPHAGAZ™ MIX 40% H2/He mixture for CnHm analyse by FID method, which is characterised by:

  • blending tolerance 1% relative,
  • impurities level: CO2 = 0,5 ppm-mol,
  • CnHm = 0,1 ppm-mol.

The above mentioned mixtures are shipped with certificate of analysis.

 

Calibration and special mixtures

We produce all categories of customized mixtures:

  • mixtures of 2 to 40 components,
  • concentrations ranging from % to ppb,
  • blending tolerances ranging up to 1% relative,
  • calibration uncertainties ranging up to 0,1% relative.

To select the proper mixture is due to define:

  • application - to choose the right mixture category,
  • components and expected concentrations,
  • carrier gas,
  • cylinder size,
  • quality documentation required.

The mixture category depends of blending tolerance and calibration uncertainty.

Blending Tolerance BT - maximum difference between the required nominal concentration and the realised concentration. This property is related to production technology.

Uncertainty U - maximum difference between the concentration achieved and the true concentration of the mixture. This property is related measuring technique.

All these mixtures are shipped with analysis certificate as per ISO 6141 standard, giving the details of:

  • the mixture components,
  • blending tolerances,
  • uncertainties,
  • shelf life,
  • traceability information.

Equipment

Air Liquide also offers the extensive range of dedicated equipment for pure gases and mixtures for laboratories and analysis: gas panels and manifolds, connection hoses, regulators, valves, point of use. ALPHAGAZ™ mixtures ensure you total gas distribution expertise, from storage to points of use.
